Great game! I loved it so much that I wanted to work on a similar concept on my own, so I came up with Agriculture and I've just published it on my page. It's probably a bit more convoluted than this, but the core ideas are the same. Would love if you could try it out. Looking forward to play more of your games!
Really captures the satisfaction of mastering new mechanics. Once you find out what each character does, it becomes easy to manipulate the board to your liking. Although I still couldn't quite figure out how exactly the 6th character operates 😅 (assuming that the dot is the 1st character).
I can now say, I am LITERATE Also, I guess a bit of a cheat sheet
Circle changes everything around it, square with circle changes one based on what the other one next to it is the shape of, lines forming a cross changes shape of the one that targeted it, the chalice with circles around it changes everything in its row, lines forming a right angle change 3 shapes, and the square with triangle seems to do the same thing as the cross. Hope this helps for others to understand, it is still very tough to make it work even with that information
I don't know why but I can't see anything other than a yellow screen? it makes sounds sometimes if I click it in a certain place, but there's no change in the images
at first i'm just clicking hoping the blocks will randomly slot into place, but after getting a symbol i find that i know how it works without even actively memorizing or analysing it... maybe not the way puzzle games are meant to be approached, but i liked the feeling of learning something without thinking to learn it
Neat little puzzle game! I enjoyed the process of figuring out the game's mechanics and goals, taking notes as I experimented. Very pleasant aesthetics.
L I T E R A T E Very cool design, love the simplicity and style. Reminds me a lot of Gestalt_OS by increpare, have you played? Similarities both in the mechanisms/gameplay as well as the visuals. Enjoyed this small focused take on the idea.
Thank you so much! And yes I would describe both this and Gestalt_OS as discoverable systems, a type of game I really enjoy; actually I worked with increpare on the level design of that game, haha. Again, thanks for the kind words!
This is pretty cool! :D The bottom-right symbol (a line separating two L-shapes with a dot on the bottom L) was tricky to get for a while but eventually I got it, noice textless puzzle game~
A strange and cryptic game about... well, cryptic writing. I guess the great idea is that when you begin playing, you feel like illiterate, and then if you get it right, you become literate. I guess nothing more to say than that it's both simple and complicated at the same time.
I'd like to invite you to take part in this year's Game Development World Championship!

i think the dot changes the ones around it
the ships wheel one changes a symbol in relation to the other side
and the chalice one changes all the ones leading up to the closest side
Ranking each symbol by how easy they were to solve (After beating it)
1. Round Square with Triangles
2. Puzzle Piece
3. Hourglass
4. Circle with Ls
5. Dot
6. 3 Lines and a dot
I mean, the single dot is pretty easy too.
I did it, but I still don't know what half of these does.
I don't get any of it, directions might help me.
Trial and error will be your friend until you discover how they all work :)
This is good
Seriously getting some understand vibes here!
Btw i beat this on cool math games 2 years ago and just realised it’s on itch.io… oops!
OH MY GOD I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING NOW
IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW
i only understand the dot and hourglass i think im an idiot
same :(
There's a cheat sheet lower down but better is to take the time to learn :) - trial and error until you get it :)

This is really fun, and very inspiring game design. You can do so much with a simple concept!

Thank you for making me L I T E R A T E
Pretty sure character 6 is about manipulating the halfway mark.

i kind of know what that is but I have a life so i wont decode that
i love codes tho
I'm officially literate
In case anyone's wondering, you can do this in 71 clicks.
I can now say, I am LITERATE

Great puzzle game, but what kind of power does each of the 6 symbols have when I click on a symbol that changes other ones?
LITERATE
cool little game
i'm gonna have to write down what these do so i'm still LITERATE

its very hard
Why is it running so slowly for me?
The game is recommended to play on Firefox. I hear about some lag in chrome.Hope that fix the issue.
i beat the game sucessfully but i have no clue how i did it. Great game but very confusing.
I very much like this game.
This is fantastic! I almost got it... I just couldn't figure out the symbol third from the right. Really great work!
One of my favorite games of 2018 so far. Really inventive and inspiring.
This game is amazing. LITERATE!

Solved every symbol and loved every second of it
Made an attempt at this on my channel, and I sorta, maybe, a little bit figured it out? Either way, I had fun. :P
LITERATE
I solved some symbols of it, but still don't know the complete logic behind it. Nevertheless, nice short puzzle game :)
